It’s really troubling to see Ghana facing this kind of surge in violent crime, and it’s totally right for lawmakers and community leaders to demand immediate action. Public safety is a basic right, and the government has a responsibility to protect everyone, not just a privileged few. I hope this leads to a meaningful, transparent plan—one that addresses the root causes of crime, like poverty and inequality, not just a crackdown after the fact. Investing in strong local policing and social services can make a real difference, instead of just reacting when things get out of hand. Above all, the government needs to be accountable and keep citizens informed every step of the way.
