Once again, we’re seeing how deep-rooted ethnic divisions and political meddling can spiral into tragedy when the government fails to address the root causes. Deploying the military and imposing curfews might keep things under control for now, but that’s just treating the symptoms, not the disease. What’s really needed is genuine community dialogue, inclusive governance, and investment in local development so people don’t feel forced to pick up arms. It’s also on the government to confront political actors who exploit these divisions for their own gain. We need a long-term, people-centered approach that empowers locals and prioritizes peace over power plays.
